Auto Accident? Meeting With An Attorney Is No Need for Embarrassment

Auto Accident Meeting With An Attorney Is No Need for Embarrassment

Our conference room, where Attorney Scott McPherson meets with new clients.

I have now been meeting with automobile accident victims for 18 years, and during that time I have noticed that many persons feel a little embarrassed about the thought of bringing a personal injury claim.  Recently, that led me to put the following post on my law firm’s Facebook page:

“I’m not the kind of person to sue, I’m just not sure what to do.” In my 18 years experience, that is one of the most common statements I hear a new client make after injuries from an automobile accident. Many times, the individual is somewhat embarrassed, and has had a poor perception of injury attorneys. I can understand this, given all the TV ads, some of which border on the absurd. I am quick to put this person’s mind at ease by explaining that, hopefully, he or she will get better, and we can close the file out in a few weeks if fully recovered. But, the reality is that this person did not ask to be injured, should not be embarrassed, and my job is to aggressively protect his or her interests in the event that lasting damages occur either economically or to quality of life. If injured in an accident, protect yourself early by consulting with an attorney.

Apart from embarrassment, some persons recently injured in a car accident have a degree of reluctance over the idea of meeting with an attorney in the first place.  Who can blame this person, given all the tacky ads that are inescapable wherever you go?  I find that this reluctance fades away after a few minutes, once the client can see that I am not trying to do a “sales job” on him or her, and that my goal is to represent their interests and collect the losses that have been sustained.

If you have been injured in an automobile accident, I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you.  I can assure you that you will be comfortable, treated with respect and compassion, and receive personal attention from me.  I will answer all of your questions to the best of my ability, and the free consultation is just that:  Free (as in without pressure).
